The power of creativity

A new article on our website, please feel free to read, we've copied the full article below for you.

This is still our space for blogging, we haven't moved from here.
Creativity and health, throughout history, has been the subject of human interest. Using stories, paintings, pictures, dances, any form of creativity may be the catalyst for the healing process.
The therapeutic benefits of artistic and creative activities comes in many forms. What Taff Rocks offers, painting rocks for example, dot mandalas and hopefully a 3D clay project, can offer healthy forms of escape.

The Taff Rocks facilitators are not mental health experts or qualified therapists but each one of us has experienced the therapeutic values and benefits of creativity. Part of the benefits of these values includes passing on the knowledge and skills to others in order to help them gain confidence in their creative mind and strengthen their mental health self-care toolbox.

When the intention of any forms of creativity is self-expression, the value in the creative piece becomes the emotional benefits. The processes we go though to create our art, to transform it into something physical, is a reflection of our thought process.

When we put our mental process into a physical form, we can feel more in control of our thoughts and feelings and can understand them more clearly.

As individuals living in a fast-paced culture, we are each personally responsible for our own emotions and thoughts, no one can make you happy but yourself. We all choose for ourselves.

As facilitators of creative activities, the most we can do is help influence beneficiaries, offer opportunities for self-expression and guide them through a learning experience which may, or may not, influence your emotions.

No one can change how you feel, we can help influence you for the better, hopefully not worse. But ultimately only you have the power to decide your emotions and behaviour.
