How to add images or posts to the Taff Rocks group

In order to add images or text only posts to Taff Rocks, they need to be added to the Facebook Group and not the public Facebook Page. The public Facebook Page does not accept posts and images from non-admin members. To find out why this is, click here

The first thing you need to do is become a Member of the Taff Rocks Facebook Group.

Once your membership request has been approved by admin, you can now add your images and posts. These will also require admin approval, but you only need to add a post once.

Congratulations to our first ever competition winner!

Congratulations to 13-year-old Sadie, one of our 'rockers', on winning Taff Rocks' first ever competition, with prizes other than the use of the winning image. We were looking for a Festive Header for our Facebook Group.

Her rock, a wonderful little snow globe with a snowman and fur trees is centre of attention of her piece. Behind her rock is a lovely festive heart-shaped berry garland and the whole display is framed by silver tinsel and some tiny little fairy lights.

We made it to a community newsletter!

A little while ago, one of our members put this idea into my head here at Taff Rocks HQ.

He suggested that adding an article in a community magazine would raise the profile of such an enriching, outdoor family activity, and would help the community get involved. Invest Local Ynysowen contacted us with more details and we wrote an article for the Ynysowen Newsletter.

Time went on, events happened, and the article slipped to the back of our minds. Then, this morning, having learned that we'd hit 500+ new members last night, the newsletter fell onto the doormat here at Taff Rocks HQ.

Creating a simple Rock Doggo (Dog)

Rock Doggo! Or, a simple dog face on a rock. Excellent for beginners but yet adorable enough for hardened "Rockers". Four simple shapes with two colours. Of course, there's nothing wrong with you changing it for yourself.

I found this idea when searching the internet for simple painted rock ideas. I created these two and wanted to share a tutorial with you.

It's snowtime folks! Let's create a simple snowman on a rock for the cosy, cold nights in and create warm memories with family and friends! Create them anytime!

In this tutorial, Taff Rocks will show you how to paint a snowman, in two different ways, each as simple and effective as the next. We will also show you some choices you can add or leave out.

What happens if you outline after sealing a rock?

Here at "Taff Rocks HQ", we usually use a variety of media to create works of rock art with, acrylic paints, Posca paint pens, Sharpies, Pilot paint pens and recently, we tried out these STA Metallic Pens.

The white pen from this particular brand, takes time to "develop", not sure if it's just this pack or the brand in general.

Taff Rocks Artists Required

With the group growing on a daily basis, there may come a time when we literally run out of rocks for seekers to find!

We are looking for artists (known as "rockers"), both young and young at heart, who can spare a little time, either on their own or with their family, to create painted masterpieces for Taff Rocks.

We will also gladly welcome members of community groups who want to paint rocks as a joint effort.

Tutorial Authors Needed

We, at Taff Rocks, want as many of our rockers / members to get involved with every part of the group. Which also includes preparing tutorials for publication here on our blog. We want to help new rockers with inspiration as well as prepare and paint rocks and also help seasoned rockers with some inspiration.

If you can answer 'yes' to each question here, then why not give this some thought.

Halloween

Autumn (Fall) is coming, which means ... Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!

A night of mischievousness from little ghosts and skeletons knocking on doors, trick or treating and generally having fun.

Of course, its origins go way back to Celtic times, but we at Taff Rocks want to celebrate it our way - with rocks! As well as have fun your way on the night itself.

Autumn-Fest

Autumn is fast approaching! But you don't need Taff Rocks to tell you this, you only have to look at the trees and see the yellows, browns and crimsons coming through.

The start of autumn, meteorologically, begins on the 1st or September or the 22nd / 23rd September if you 'work' from the astronomical calendar.

For the month of September, Taff Rocks would like to invite you to participate in their Autumn-Fest month of autumnal rock creations in the comfort of your own home and with your family.

The Rocks Movement

Painting rocks has become a movement. We are all different and yet all the same.  We all want to [feel] loved.

In this case, it's kindness. It feels good to share kindness and to receive kindness.

We paint and hide rocks as an act of kindness to unexpectedly brighten someone's day. We don't paint rocks for ourselves.

It isn't about the best. All rocks do the same thing. They make a person smile.

It's for all ages and abilities.
