Positivity Daisy Tutorial

"The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do." [Kobe Bryant, American basketball player]

Which is why I am sharing with you this tutorial of wonderful little flowers of love and positivity!

You will need:
  • A smooth rock
  • A base colour acrylic paint of your choice (optional)
  • Colour for your petals
  • Colour for centre
  • A black fine-liner acrylic paint pen / thin brush is using acrylics
  • A white fine-liner acrylic paint pen  (optional)
  • Varnish, spray on or paint on, it's your choice
For the sake of this tutorial, I am not going to add a base coat. This rock will be quite dark when varnished so I'm using bright colours. You can choose whatever colours you desire.

After you have cleaned your rock, start with a pencil drawing. The pencil here didn't show up very well, so I'm just blocking in one part at a time.

Start with the centre. Draw a half circle

Petals - five in total

This is my method, it makes it easier for me. Hopefully it will make it easier for you too:

Start on the bottom left and right petals then up to the centre petal.

Once those are in place, fill in the other two petals.

Paint / Colour in your flower.

Using the same order as above, start colouring / painting in your flower:
  • Centre (here in orange)
  • Petals (here in pink):
    • Bottom left and right
    • Top centre
    • Other two

Now for the text:
  • Pick your positive word and prepare to write it in.
  • The best type of handwriting would be cursive or running handwriting, where all the letter in the word are joined together.
    • If you cannot do this, you can add in little joins later.
  • To make sure it fits, try it in pencil first.
  • Once you're happy, paint over it with a thin line or by using a paint pen

Outline your flower / daisy

Add dots to the centre of your flower

Next, add some lines in your petals to make them more 'petal like'

  • Place your pen / brush on the outline of the centre of your flower
  • Using light pressure, gently 'flick' your pen or a brush stroke toward the middle of the petal.
  • Do this three times per petal

Finishing off

  • I know this rock is going to be very dark when sealed. Which means you won't see my text very well. I have used white over my black text so when it's sealed, you can see it.
  • In the spaces left, you can add
    • Another little flower
    • Some hearts
    • Insects or critters
    • Anything you desire

Add text on the reverse of your rock

  • Allow to dry.
Seal your rock.
